Dana Airliner Crashes in Lagos Killing Many

A McDonnell Douglas MD-83 commercial airliner operated by DANA Air crashed into a two-storey
building in Iju- Ishaga, Alagbado Area of Lagos. The plane had 153 passengers and crew on board. No one on board survived.

The plane took off from the Murtala Muhammed Airport, but attempted to return after the pilot noticed something wrong. The plane crashed while returning to the airport.

Dana Airlines Limited (Dana Air) is a member of Dana Group of Companies Plc. The airline began commercial flight operations on Monday, November 10, 2008. They operate daily flights to Abuja, Calabar, Lagos, Port Harcourt and Uyo.

Levi Ajuonuma (NNPC Corp Affairs GM) and 5 members of Staff of Nigerian University Commissions (NUC) were among those killed.

In the hour that followed the crash, the Nigerian Television Authority NTA was showing an unrelated talk show, Silverbird TV; pageant, AIT a football match, Channels TV a bible study programme, Mitv a game show.

Aljazeera, CNN, BBC and others foreign networks had it as Headlines and Breaking news.
