Stella Damasus: The rage of an overnight moralist

the angry face of an overnight moralist

I am sure most of you must have had the misfortune of watching an online video posted by Stella Damasus days ago. The dumb bimbo accused Yerima of bringing a bill to legalise child marriage before the Nigerian senate. While claiming she has no problem Islam, she warned the Senators that Nigeria is not an Islamic State and they should not try to Islamise the country. In her rage, she accused the senate of wasting valuable time discussing early marriage which the poorly educated actress translated to mean slavery or something worst.

This despicable woman with excessive makeup and fake-hair, did not only insult Senators of the Federal Republic of Nigeria with every abominable word available, the showgirl displayed complete ignorance of the issues that was the subject of her anger. The frustrated cripple minded bimbo also had the animal boldness to speak in a disrespectful tone toward Islam and Muslims.

Dear Stella Damasus, there is no bill to legalise Child marriage before the Senate. Senator Yerima and others merely opposed the removal of Section 29 (4)b of the 1999 constitution. Senator Yerima has a constitutional mandate and acted within it when he opposed the removal a clause he perceives to be detrimental to young married women if removed. The clause rather than exposes the girl child, empowers them to be able to renounce their citizenship before they are 18 years of age if they so wishes. Senator Yerima argued in favour of under 18 years old married women which, according to Maryam Uwais, constitute half the population of northern women. This is not one of those foolish home video scripts and you have no moral standing to have a say in this matter.

What this Stella Damasus show of shame has shown is that there are not very many educated people in Nigeria, a doctor friend of mine opined. That is one cold fact this “child bride” brouhaha has revealed. There are too many fools who hold certificates. Any wonder why we are this backward in the 21st Century?

  1. **did not only INSULTED** – that should be INSULT. That slip however wasn’t as a result of your lack of solid education ‘cos your article was quite impressive (you were quite articulate and coherent)

However, I must express my displeasure @ some of your remarks. Is Nigeria an Islamic state? No, Did she insult Islam or the Muslims? No. (I stand to be corrected), Are there more pressing issues that the senate should be deliberating on? A big YES to that

Lets place religion aside and talk morality, what’s wrong is so wrong.

if you call standing for whats’ right SHAMEFUL, then I must say that I am extremely shocked and disappointed.

    • You are right on point. What is this madness about marring a 10 year old that is not capable of making any reasonable decision nor physically developed. This must have to do with the sexual incompetence or challenges faced by these disfunctional old fools that cannot satisfy matured women. Maybe they need Viagra or ‘buratashi’. How can your wife be younger than your daughter?. Under this Stupid thinking that a girl is of “full age” once married, is it also fair to say that these married children should be able to vote in elections or run for public office like the senate or for that matter be able to join the Miliatary. How do these men know that these babies are menstruating in the first place?. It’s a shame that little girls need education not sex from men older than their fathers. Children should not be having children.

    • How does the picture resemble Jesus? As I’ve told others, this post made no reference to Jesus Christ, Christianity and I’m a Muslim. Why on earth would you assume the picture is meant to represent Jesus Christ in any way.

      • There is a general perception of what that figure with a crown of thorns have come to represent, even though we might have our reservations concerning that. i think it fair that a different caricature be used.

    • Strong reservations over that too. Whatever seem to mock the personality of the noble Prophet Jesus (AS) is prohibited in Islam. I’m a Muslim too and this is unquestionably unacceptable.
