Well, it’s that part of the Islamic calendar again. Muslims celebrate the Eid, and sacrifice a ram, in remembrance of the Prophet Abraham’s test. Abraham was asked to sacrifice his only son, he obeyed, his son was substituted by a ram and so on and so forth.
On the one hand, the Jews and the Christians feel we were wrong, because the sacrificial son was Isaac and not Ismael, on the other hand, the Atheists say we are out of our minds for subscribing to an ancient book full of fairytale.
To the Christians and the Jews, although we can actually prove from the Old Testament and the Torah that the sacrificial son was Ismael, we actually have no problem even if it were Isaac. They are both held as Prophets in high regards by Muslims as commanded by the Qur’an and Sunnah. So, it wouldn’t make any difference at all.
To the Atheists, I really find it difficult to keep up with their empty headedness. An article was flying around on the Internet about how religious kids find it difficult to accept and understand scientific fact. The Atheistic author claimed that reading religious books makes religious kids less scientifically active than their Atheistic counterparts, because religious books are all ferry tales.
Immediately after reading that garbage, my mind took me back to my secondary school days, it was a hot afternoon and we were having Physical Chemistry class. Long story short, our Chemistry teacher talked about how the blazing light of the sun is diminishing and that one day, the sun will loose it’s light. The whole class went into shock, mouths wide open, of course except Muslim students. Why? Well we Muslim kids have been singing :
ﺍﺫ ﺍﻟﺸﻤﺲ ﻛﻮﺭﺕ
As soon as we started talking. It’s not a song really, but our mother, uncles, brothers and sisters sang it to us while Dada was out food hunting. It’s a verse from the Qur’an, chapter 81, verse one. Translates :
When the sun is wrapped up in darkness / When the sun looses it’s light.
It’s a chapter that talks about the end of days. I remember asking my dad what the loosing of light by the sun got to do with the last days. He said : “Do you remember what your teacher taught you about how plants get their food with the help of the sun, well if the sun looses it’s light, the plants will die of hunger, and if there are no plants, there will be nothing for us and the animals to eat, and so everything will die.”
And my father is an accountant, his father, my grandfather was an Islamic scholar as well as an intellectual in the so called ‘Western Education’. None of them were scientists.
When I first heared about evolution in secondary school, the only problem I had with the Mr Darwin was monkeys evolving into humans, which is scientifically false since there are no evidence whatsoever of intermediary mutants. But, a sperm cell evolves into an embryo and so forth.
I challenge you, any time you go to Kano, wait after the Isha prayer, then visit any of the Islamic Night schools, popularly known as Makarantar Dare, any student will elaborate the development of an embryo from sperm cell to babyhood. They learnt it from the Qur’an and Hadith.
Atheists are indeed the funniest to me. Now I am constipated.
